This paper proposes a fault resistance compensation algorithm for a doubly fed transmission line. The ground distance relay performance is affected by the fault resistance which its effect appears during the different types of ground faults. It is also affected by the direction and magnitude of power flow. As a result, the ground distance relay may overreach or underreach. In order to compensate the effect of fault resistance, a compensation algorithm based on a digital distance relaying scheme is proposed in this paper. Simulation studies are performed using MATLAB/SIMULINK to validate the efficiency of the proposed scheme.
