Due to rapid development in wireless communication for WLAN and WiMAX applications, many microstrip patch antenna with multiple bands characteristics with high gain are essential to design to achieve the desired wireless communication standards. The compact octagonal shape (Split Ring Resonator) based patch antenna with multiple band presented in this paper. The proposed design is implemented on FR-4 substrate with dimension of 30×26×0.8 mm3 which is cover the wireless local area network WLAN (2.4/5.2/5.8 GHz) and worldwide interoperability for microwave access WiMAX(3.5GHz) bands. The proposed antenna is simulated with results of S11, gain, efficiency and radiation patterns. Patterns and gain are more stable over all the operating regions.
