Electric vehicles (EV) are expected to solve the environmental problems, since high-efficiency operation without CO2 and NOx emissions. In this paper, proposed is a new method of communication by superimposing on power transmission which can communicate from the power receiving side to the power supply side without requiring additional communication components. The secondly unit of the charging system can modulate a power supply coil current in the primary unit by controlling the phase of an active-rectifier in the power receiver. Design strategy of the proposed communication method for satisfying the target specifications is described. Furthermore, the high-power wireless power transfer (WPT) experimental set up is designed using characteristic-impedance design method.
