Based on Chenery's theoretical hypothesis and Cobb Douglas production function, the article uses PVAR model to analyze the relationship between economic growth and industrial structure in 32 middle-income countries during 1980 to 2014. According to the testing results, there is a long-term and stable relationship between economic growth and industrial structure in middle-income countries. As for each country, Granger causality test shows that the relationship between economic growth and three industries vary from country to country, even though they have the same effect in general. In addition, with the development of the third scientific and technological revolution, the tertiary industry has a significant development in upper-income countries, while the middle-income country and lower income countries still greatly depend on the secondary industry.
