摘要

This study is important to establish the mechanism and type of degradation that occurs with bioresorbable fibers, particularly P4HB for surgical suture applications. Furthermore, the results will be used to elucidate the optimum properties needed for thermal processing, such as controlling the polymer processing, storage and sterilization conditions. The experimental analysis and MD simulations for P4HB are in progress, and the findings generated will be applied to identify other applications in the body as well as to other hydrolytically bioresorbable polymers.
