An IGS with nano and micro structures was developed in order to investigate the ability of the three different cell types to sustain their viability, proliferation and phenotype in a heterogeneous cellular environment. Each phase within the IGS was created to provide an optimal growing environment for every cell type. Our results indicate that the IGS has been able to sustain the cells' viability, proliferation as well as phenotype after 3 and 7 da ys of culture at their respective phases in the heterogeneous cellular environment. Outcomes from this study demonstrate the feasibility of developing a bioactive IGS to support heterogeneous cellular interactions. Current studies investigate the potential of the IGS to support multiple tissue regeneration simultaneously in vivo.
