Within this study several aircraft are designed to fulfill the same Top Level Aircraft Requirements of a reference aircraft by means of a successive uncoupled variation of the design wing-loading and thrust-to-weight ratio. The noise reaching the ICAO Annex 16 certification points is evaluated according to EPNL and sound quality metrics. By reducing the design wing-loading and thrust-to-weight ratio, a noise reduction at the approach certification point is captured. At the lateral and flyover point, no perceptible change is computed when the wing-loading is reduced, while a slightly noise increase could be observed for lower thrust-to-weight ratios. Reductions in terms of loudness and sharpness are found. Tonality is hardly affected.
