Gas pressurized stripping (GPS) is a patented technology developed by Carbon Capture Scientific (CCS). This paper gives a brief introduction of this novel technology and its applications in different CO_2 separation processes. GPS technology has been tested at bench-scale for CO_2 capture from post-combustion flue gas and at pilot scale for CO_2 separation from syngas in a urea plant. GPS technology has great potential for energy saving in many industries including natural gas sweetening, syngas purification, post-combustion CO_2 capture as well as CO_2 recovery from recycle gas in based enhanced oil recovery industry. The energy saving from GPS technology depends on the applications. Overall, GPS technology can save 50-90% of electricity cost for a CO_2 separation process, where CO_2 needs to be separated and a high pressure CO_2 is also desirable.
