摘要

Despite the strong empirical tradition in our field, recent articles have highlighted the misuse of statistical methods and the consequeces they have (see e.g. [10]). It has been suggested that our community extends the toolkit of statistical methods to further progress in the field. We view Structural Equation Models (SEMs) as an example of such a statistical technique that has become popular in neighbouring fields, such as RecSys (see [7]) and would be particularly valuable for user evaluations.
