Bridge engineers are increasingly looking for innovative yet cost-effective ways of repairing and maintaining a deteriorating bridge inventory. Repairs using Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) laminates are a potential solution with several advantages. This study investigates the application of CFRP to steel surfaces having non-uniform profiles resulting from corrosion section loss. Three different retrofit configurations were evaluated through full-scale testing on steel girders removed from service. This research describes the resulting effects on flexural strength and stiffness.
