The Discover Your Watershed Project (www.sfwater.org/sfwatersheds) strategically incorporates online interactive watershed maps, storytelling, and watershed signage to help raise public awareness and understanding of the sewer's collection system and watersheds within the City of San Francisco. This project was also part of a larger effort to educate and engage the public in the wastewater capital improvements, mainly the Sewer System Improvement Program (SSIP). The project helps to realize this goal through three main components: Watershed place making signage, online interactive watershed maps of the past, present and future, and the watershed storytellers video series. The project also includes public outreach and social media campaigns to engage the community on watershed and stormwater management initiatives. Within the first year the website has been visited more than 4,700 times and the video series has collected over 2,400 views.
