The HSR 350X, which consists of two power cars, two motorized trailers and three trailers, was developed including main components such as aluminum carbody, propulsion system and pantograph, etc. In addition, the dominant noise source and transmission path were also investigated. It was shown that the dominant noise sources and transmission paths should be improved in order to meet the noise specification of the HSR 350X. Three key components were selected based on the characteristics of a component, one is a major noise source of a trailer, the second one is a typical vibration transmission path and the third one is a major noise source of power car. The improved alternative design of three selected components, pressurization unit, a structural element between bogie frame and carbody and main transformer, are suggested for reducing the internal noise level of each vehicle.
