Gresik combined cycle power plant is one of PT Pembangkitan Jawa Bali’s units that has nine units of combined cycle power plant. The most common problems in Gresik combined cycle power plant is high vibration due to unbalance of the rotor within the gas turbine both during normal operation and after major inspection. Two plane balancing is required when there is an unbalance case. The problem faced is that the balancing process based on the existing method required a long time, the balancing process required a minimum of four stages; the original run, trial one run, trial two run, and correction run to resolve the unbalanced case. The time needed to perform the balancing process with the existing method is 35,75 hours. The long duration of the balancing process can cause PT PJB UP Gresik to lose production opportunities and experience a significant decrease in the EAF (Equivalent Availability Factor) value. Due to these problems, an optimization of balancing on a gas turbine has made by reducing the stage of the balancing process from four stages to two stages with eliminating the process of trial one run and trial two run so that the results of the implementation of this optimization can reduce the duration of the two plane balancing process by 23.5 hours, save costs by Rp1.183.145.312 and can prevent a decrease in the EAF value by 0.4%.
