Abstract: A review of the evolution of the concept of motion over the centuries, starting from the Aristotelian 'prime' philosophy, through modern times is given. The emphasis, however, is placed on the Copernican revolution, Newtonian mechanics/dynamics, Mach and Lange's ideas. !0
