Abstract: In the present paper we discuss the implementation oftwo methods of signal validation for analysis: theamplitude trigger and the spectral trigger. In thefirst method after validation of the signal with theamplitude trigger the temporary spectrum with theGaussian window centered on the peak amplitude point iscomputed with the use of the fast Fourier transform(FFT). The spectrum averaging procedure is applied toimprove the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) value. In thesecond method the validation trigger is based onanalysis of the SNR level obtained from the spectrumcomputed from a short record (64 or 128 points). Inthis case the SNR value is defined as the ratio of thepeak of the power spectrum of the signal to mean noisepower. After validation the spectrum of a 1024-samplerecord is computed with the use of the FFT and theaveraging procedure is performed in the next step. Bothmethods were verified on simulated data as well as realDS samples taken from experiment. !2
