Abstract: Time-reversal symmetry property of the nonlinear optical hyperpolarizability is examined in terms of the Manley-Rowe power relation to find relationship to the overall permutation symmetry. An extended symmetry relation is discovered reducing the independent number of the hyperpolarizability tensor components describing the second- order nonlinear optical processes. Experimental implications are discussed.!11
