Vertical cracks were discovered in some of the concrete columns of the morning-glory spillway at Kingsley Dam on the North Platte River. The cracks tended to separate the load-bearing interior portions of the column from the reinforced exterior portions, resulting in potential inward collapse of the structure at higher lake levels. The columns were repaired by the installation of anchor bolts, which provide horizontal reinforcement, re-establishing the columns as single load-bearing members.
