Modeling and simulation are used extensively in the acquisition process of the RAH-66 Comanche aircraft program. ^Specific applications include the augmentation off system testing, engineering development, war-fighting development, and training. ^It is critical that a simulator system accurately represent the designed Comanche capabilities when participating in advanced war-fighting experiments (AWE) and advanced technology demonstrations (ATDs). ^The Comanche Player Station (CPS) was built by Sikorsky Aircraft under the RAH-66 Comanche contract. ^This device is a fully functional simulator that was developed for the U.S. ^Army. ^CPS is a key component of the Aviation War-fighting Cell (AWC) which is part of the Army's Battle Lab network. ^It recently participated in an AWE known as the Anti-Armor Advanced Technology Demonstration (A2ATD), Experiment No. ^5. ^This experiment achieved the successful integration of Comanche and Longbow Apache man-in-the-loop simulations performing cooperative missions on a digital battlefield environment. ^Early Operational Capability (EOC) pilots plan to use the device to develop tactics, techniques, and procedures and also perform Comanche system familiarization. ^Numerous experiments are planned involving Comanche on the digital battlefield. ^CPS is a compact high fidelity simulation that the Army is presently using. ^Its purpose is to assist in the development of a production weapon system that will not be available until 2006. ^(Author)
