We have developed a new impedance tomography imaging system for measurement of breast tissue. The system is based around a high-speed digital controller for the collection of complex electrical impedance measurements over the bandwidth 1 kHz-5 MHz. The design provides for the control of a number of factors, such as number of frequencies and frequency range etc. The data acquisition system provides an overall accuracy of better than 1%. It is now being used for the collection of impedance measurements from human breast tissue in-vitro.
