摘要

For efficient planning and management of coastal aquifers in Kayalpattu and Tiruchopuram villages extends over 1000 acres, it is essential to delineate and predict the extent of intrusion into the shallow aquifer. Management of groundwater in coastal aquifers is composed of major elements which should be properly evaluated special attention is given to salt-water encroachment problem. The integration of different data like hydro-geomorphological and depth wise iso-apparent resistivity data with the help of GIS (ARC/INFO) software is valuable for effective analysis that also exposed the necessity of accounting for spatial reference and accuracy of data. Zones with apparent resistivity of less than 10 Ohm.m. have found to be increasing aerial extent with reference to depth.
