With the successful developmental flights in 1994 and in 1996 and operational flights in 1997 and in 1999, PSLV, the high performance Launch Vehicle of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), is ready for providing cost effective launch services to LowEarth Orbit (LEO) and Sun Synchronous Polar Orbit (SSPO). The first stage of PSLV comprises of a large core booster stage and 6 number of strapon stages. Both core booster and strapon stages employ solid propulsion system. The second stage uses liquid propulsion system and the third stage is a high perfomrance solid motor. The fourth stage is a twin engine liquid stage and this provides 3 axis guided injection of spacecraft into the orbit. The injection accuracies achieved during the developmental and operational flights are -spacecraft injection altitude accuracies less than +-10 km -orbital inclination accuracies less than 0.1 deg PSLV can offer launch services in a cost effective way for the emerging space operational service sector.
