A behavioral assay was developed to test responses of newly hatched larvae (neonates), fourth and fifth instars of the cotton bollworm, Helicoverpa armigera (Hubner) to transgenic cotton lines expressing modified CrylA gene from Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) developed in China and NuCOTN 33B developed by Monsando Company both in laboratory and field studies. The reaction or fitness of bollworm to the insecticidal crystal proteins (ICPs) in those Bt cotton plants with the way of the activities of feeding, resting, locomotion, spin-down on the plants was assessed.
