摘要

The uptake of biotin in an in vitro model of the BBB was characterized in order to assess the suitability of targeting SMVT to deliver biotin-conjugated compounds to the brain. The SMVT-mediated transport of R.I-C(biotin)-Tat9, a biotin conjugated anti-HIV-1 nonapeptide, across the BBB was evaluated. Further, the use of various branched biotin-PEGs (polyethylene glycols) as therapeutic drug carriers was studied.
