摘要

The Department of National Defence (DND) has been actively involved in a successfulWater Treatment Plant Optimization Program (WTPOP) since March 2000. DND manages infrastructureat numerous sites including water systems serving military bases and local municipalities. The aim of theWTPOP is to enhance public health protection and to cost-effectively optimize water systems. This paperwill summarize the background, approach and results of ongoing optimization activities at Canadianmilitary facilities. The water optimization program follows a successful sewage treatment plantoptimization program (1995 - present). The goal of the current water optimization program is to provideDND staff with the skills, knowledge, and experience to achieve and sustain optimized performance fromexisting water treatment plant infrastructure in an economical manner. Program achievements to dateinclude: enhanced water quality monitoring, improved accuracy and reliability of reported data, andenhanced operational skills.
