An integrated process modeling system was built by the authors for hot strip rolling, in which thermal, mechanical and metallurgical processes from reheating furnace to coiling of a steel strip had been numerically and successfully coupled together, enabling to predict and analyze microstructure and property evolution during hot rolling. With the help of the powerful tool, the authors investigated the cooling and coiling processes during hot strip rolling at 2050 HSM of BaoSteel Co.Ltd. The parameters of 2050 HSM were input into the developed integrated process models. For specific steel grade, coiling temperatures were predicted by running the models and calculated coiling temperatures were also compared with the measured ones from plant. The deviation of the comparison was scientifically analyzed and reasonably modified through improving models.
