Effect of strain rate on dynamic mechanical properties in low carbon low silicon TRIP(transformation-induced plasticity) steel containing aluminum and vanadium was investigated. The results show that the strength, ductility, product of strength and ductility, and absorbed energy of test steel increase with increasing the strain rate. Compared with static mechanical properties, the dynamic strength is higher than that of static, the highest dynamic elongation is equal to that of static. In addition, the retained austenite transformation kinetics was measured by tensile test and simulated by the function y = 1- e~(-Ax), where A indicates the velocity of retained austenite transformation. The larger the A value, the faster the velocity. From the discussion, the decreasing dynamic ductility is mainly due to most of retained austenite transforming at the smaller strain.
