TiO_2 photocatalysts doped with alkaline-earth metal ions were prepared by impregnation and coprecipitation method. The samples were characterized by XRD, XPS, IR and UV-Vis. Their activities were evaluated by photocatalytic hydrogen production. It was found that the photocatalytic activities depend on the size of the doped ion and doping method. The optimum molar content of doped Be~(2+), Mg~(2+), Ca~(2+), Sr~(2+), Ba~(2+) was 1.25 at.%, 1.25 at.%, 2.25 at.%, 2.25 at.% and 2.25 at.%, respectively. The optimum calcinated temperature and time were 400 °C and lh, respectively.
