摘要

The most significant events in graptolite evolution happened in the Ordovician, as manifested by the appearances of three major faunas including the anisograptids, dichograptids and diplograptids (Buiman,1970). The anisograptids, typified by their planktonic life style which was probably derived from their benthic ancestors and retention of three types of thecae, first appeared at the very beginning of the Ordovician. The dichograptids were characterized by the loss ofbithecae and stolothecae, and started their expansion in the latest Tremadocian.
