1 INTRODUCTIONPaleozoic mdiolarians have been discovered in rocks as old as Middle Cambrian and are sometimes abundant,diverse and well preserved.Their fast faunal turnover makes them perfect candidates for biostratigraphic purposes in deep water sediments,but they also occur associated with diverse macrofaunas in more shallow water regions.Early diverse radiolarian faunas have been described from the Middle and Upper Cambrian of Australia (Won and Below,1999),China(Dong et al.,1997) and western Newfoundland (Won and Iams,2002),while early Ordovician faunas are known from Nevada (Kozur,Mostler and Repetski,1996) and Newfoundland (Won et al.,2005).
