Experimental Study on the Swelling Power of Sandstone at High Temperature

摘要

The hot swelling power of sandstone token from the roof of coal seam in Guhanshan coal mine, Jiaozuo has been studied when the temperature is from 200°C to 600°C in this paper. The experimental results show that the heat swelling power appeared at low heating temperature because of the sandstone with lot of clay, and the swelling power is smaller when the temperature is lower than 500°C,but it will sharply rise when the temperature is higher than 500°C. It indicates that main reasons are both morphic transformation of crystalloid and structual break of mudstone when the temperature is low, and the sharply change of the swelling power is caused by both break of crystal structure and the formation of new crack in the interior of sandstone when the temperature is upto a specifical temperature.
