Experimental Study on Flame Propagation Characteristics of Gas Explosion

Early stage of gas explosion was tested in a self-designed quartz test tube with 6cm in inner diameter and 1.6m in length, and character of flame propagation was monitored with high-speed CCD camera. The result shows that it took 10-30ms for the gas to be ignited to form obvious and strong flame. There was catastrophe process during the course of flame propagation. The higher gas concentration, the shorter the induction and catastrophe time. Combustion wave accelerated and deflagrated after transmitting to 5-10 times of the test tube diameter and explosion flame sped up out of test tube.
