This paper shows the interest of using a software tool in order to optimise the electricity consumption of a compressed air system. The software presented was designed by EDF for audit purposes. Different types of optimisations can be explored: Pressure drop. Leak reduction. Compressor priority schedule. Compressor sizing. Inlet temperature optimisation. Energy saving calculations can be displayed for each "what if" scenario. In this paper, the main characteristics of the tool are described, emphasis is given on the approach used to describe the compressed air system.
