A popular NiZnCu ferrite material was chosen to work with various levels of Mn304 addition to study electrical properties such as initial permeability, saturation flux density, power loss, resistivity, etc.Standard ceramic process was adopted. A further study was done with an addition of 0.015wt% CaO and 0.015wt% Nb205 and a further reduction in power loss was found. Thus a NiZnCu ferrite material was developed with very low power loss and very high saturation flux density making this material suitable for LCD backlighting inverters. This paper narrates the trials, results and some of the measurements done during the course of this project.
