Finite element approach based on ANSYS together with artificial neural'network is used to interpreter the structural reliability index and to generate sampling data as well as construct the response surface function by BP artificial neural network, thus working out the slope reliability index. This approach is based on methods of reliability which consists of Point Estimation, Monte Carlo, JC, Geometric method and the Response Surface method. However without the limit of the lack of accuracy in use of the quadratic function, the approach of Response Surface method first proposed by Wong in Which the quadratic polynomial is used to approximate fitting the slope limit state function and the JC is adopted to calculate the slope reliability index when faced with real geotechnical problem.
