For horizontal thick coal seam, the boundary parameter under the condition of open-underground mining is the nuclear factor of the open slope stability. Through two methods of numerical simulation and similar simulation, the failure problems of the open slope under the condition of open-underground mining were analyzed and discussed, results showed that the failure of the open slope is a gradual process, in order to guarantee the normal open pit coal mine production works well, the boundary between open-pit mining and underground mining must be controlled by the vertical height of safe mining (H0), and through the analysis of the similar simulation, the mining sequence is optimized.
