When the gas drainage technology of"sector"joint excavation and drainage is applied to extra-thick coal seam it can't reduce the gas from the coal wall effectively, this paper analyzed that default and studied the gas drainage principle of the "boreholes-wall" joint excavation and drainage; after having used the technology of the "boreholes-wall" joint excavation and drainage in the Chen Jiashan Coal Mine's 421 lanway, the effect indicated that the gas drainage rate of it could reach more than 75 per cent which is far more than that of the gas drainage technology of"sector"joint excavation and drainage, so the technology is a very effective gas drainage method to fit the extra-thick coal seam.
