Research on Performance of Kevlar(R) Wind Tube in Driving Places

The ventilating performance and crack-resistant ability of the mine wind tube could be inspected directly and completely by the actual capability experiment in excavation roadway, which is important to evaluate the quality of mine wind tube and the safety of driving place. This paper focuses on the performance of Kevlar(R) wind tube and discusses the determination index and detection method of perfomance towards wind tube. The field experiment and application of Kevlar(R) wind tube has been carried out in three driving places: driving place of rock roadway, driving place of semi coal-rock roadway and driving place of coal roadway. The practical performance in field experiment, including the mechanical strength, ventilating performance and driving cost of Kevlar(R) wind tube, have been compared with that obtained by glass fiber fabric wind tube, in order to study on the feasibility of Kevlar(R) wind tube replacing glass fiber fabric wind tube. The experimental results indicate that Kevlar(R) wind tube is more cost-effective, higher safety and more crack-resistant than fiber fabric wind tube.
