Debris flow is a very destructive flood. These floods mostly occur in highsteep mountain areas, and cause lots of economic damages and live claims.The flood contains very dense mixtures of different grain size sediment.In recent years, open-check dams, specially slit dams, are widely used tocontrol debris flows.Slit dams are one of the open check dams presenting one or several verticalopenings, going from the dam’s base up to the weir. The slit has decreasedthe dam sedimentation.Analyzing the results in this study shows because of the slit in these dams,sediment evacuation has been increased and Trap Efficiency (TE) has beenreduced significantly.In this study, to indicate the sedimentation in the dam reservoir 25experiment had been set up in a steep tilting flume (22 degree) for 5 width ofslit and 5 different particle size, sedimentation is function of volume of theflood in the dam’s reservoir, slit width and the particle size. After analyzingthe sedimentation profile a dimensionless equations is proposed for thesediment distribution in these dam’s reservoir.
