摘要

Although PMMA based polymer optical fiber (POF) has many advantages, for example low cost and easiness of handling, over silica glass optical fiber for short haul data communication application, its high attenuation and restriction of light source selection makes its application field limited. Graded index polymer ooptical fiber(GI-POF) fabricated by perfluorinated polymer, which has no C-H bond in its molecular structure, shows no significant light absorption in the near infra-red ray region. ITs attenuation is lower than 100dB/km at wide range of wavelength through 650 nm to 1300 nm. perfluorinated GI-POF is one of promising cnadidates for short haul data transmission systems such as in-home network and LAN.
