摘要

Data and Knowledge sharing and collaboration in Shipbuilding industry is a bigger challenge more than other industries. Not only with huge amount of data size, different design and manufacturing stages, different disciplines, different software, but also involved of a huge supply chain which includes design agents, equipment manufacturers, block fabricators, etc. JT technology can provide a lightweight data format for 3D product information visualization and collaboration throughout value chain across multi-organizations in all phases of the ship lifecycle. JT has been -approved by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) as an International Standard (ISO 14306:2012). This paper presents the detail introduction for JT Format Specification, JT Open Toolkit, JT Viewer, JT-Enabled application, and JT Open Program, with such a comprehensive tool, method and mechanism of technical development and application, Shipyard manufacturer, supplier, even IT Vendor and Academic can work together to speed up the development of ship.
