Shake-table tests were conducted to validate thebenefit of frame-spine-FLC systems over frame-spine systems.Major findings are listed below:1) As intended, the use of force-limiting connections (FLCs) inplace of rigid connections between the frame and spine led toreduced story acceleration in the structural system.2) The deformation between the frame and spine to obtain thebenefits of FLCs was on the order of 20 to 40 mm.Work is continuing to process the data obtained from the testsand to develop a rational design procedure for frame-spine-FLCsystems.
