This paper gives a historical perspective of Distribution Automation at Detroit Edison a DTE Energy company from the early 1990's to the present with an emphasis on how today's advanced meter infrastructure is adding another layer to DA that enables additional functionality that will continue to optimize distribution circuit reliability and efficiency for the utility and customer.
