摘要

GaN-based power device technology is progressing rapidly and expanding its applicability in a wide range of power applications including Solar Inverters. Along with intrinsic scalability in low and high voltage power conversion topologies and coupled with dramatic FOM improvement vs. Si based devices, GaN power products are set to have a direct impact on future efficient PV solar inverter/converters. By reducing losses in each stage of the power conversion, GaN based devices will help in increasing total energy harvesting. The integration with driver ICs and other components will drive the size reduction and high volume commercialization. In this article we present the latest improvements of the GaN-based power technology, the future trends in the product roadmaps and experimental results and simulation examples of AC/DC and DC/DC topologies in traditional and micro PV inverters.
