In This study explores the feasibility of the treatment of myocardial infarction using transplantation of mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) that comes from a new source-umbilical cord source. Take human umbilical cord to cultivate MSCs and transplant them into the infarction part of the model rat suffering from myocardial infarction. Eight weeks later, take out the heart of the rat for the observation of the transplantation of MSCs and the expression of myosin heavy chain (MHC)of MSC. The result shows that MSCs are alive after the transplantation into myocardium to express MHC, which means MSC from the source of umbilical cord is able to survive and to be differentiated into cardiomyocyte cell. Due to the limited application of MSC coming from bone marrow and cord blood, this research discovers a new source for the seed cells to be transplanted.
