With the exception of one engine (SVE Unit 335 Engine 1), all of the engines met NSPS, permitted criteria pollutant, and HAP emission limits. The successful outcome of the source emission testing of the Ford Model LSG-875 engines was favorably influenced by having a regulator-approved source testing protocol, an experienced stack testing firm, a representative from the remediation system manufacturer onsite, and the remediation field team leader (day-today operator of the SVE system) onsite. The regulators were interested in the source testing; it was witnessed by personnel from AEHD and the New Mexico Environment Department -Hazardous Waste Bureau. Engine performance was expected to improve during full load operation (system design). However, CO emissions from some of the engines were relatively the same for both load scenarios or increased during the full load scenario. The catalytic oxidation units will degrade as the engine run time increases and may not be as effective at lower operating temperatures. An evaluation of the catalytic oxidation units with a direct reading instrument should be included in the SVE System Operations and Maintenance Program.
