This paper presents an extensive literature review on the shear behavior of steel fiber reinforced concrete (SFRC) and self-consolidating fiber reinforced concrete (SCFRC) beams. Existing prediction equations proposed by other researchers for predicting the shear resistance of SFRC and SCFRC beams are also summarized. In addition, the paper presents the experimental results from recent tests on four slender SCFRC beams tested by the authors. The results demonstrate the combined use of SCC and steel fibers can improve the shear resistance of reinforced concrete beams and can promote flexural failure and ductility. Various equations proposed in the literature are used to predict the shear capacity of SCFRC beams tested in this experimental series and in the literature. The results demonstrate the need for developing rational and accurate equations for predicting the shear capacity of SCFRC beams.
