A trapezoidal CGS dam, which is a new type of dam developed in Japan to reduce the use of materials, also helps to rationalize design and execution. To date, it has been studied as a method for supplementary structures such as the marsh control works of the Taiho Dam, the Kawai sub-dam at the Haizuka Dam, and the secondary dam at the Kasegawa Dam. In 2009, work began on placing the dam body of the Tobetsu Dam, the first trapezoidal CSG dam, and the placing was completed in December 2010. Placing of CSG for the Okukubi Dam started in November 2010 and is scheduled to be completed in September 2011. This paper describes the execution and quality control of the trapezoidal CSG dam, with reference to the Tobetsu Dam as an example.
