Managing complexity is becoming one of the greatest challenges for organizations in every discipline today. As processes are mostly interrelated with others, the complexity usually precludes decision makers from gaining knowledge on how policy changes may affect the total organizational performance. Implementing a simulation model allows managers to define and change crucial policies in order to see how the system reacts. This paper offers a methodological approach how to model financial flows of a generic Air Navigation Service Provider (ANSP) based on the System Dynamics perspective. Focus is laid both on the process from system thinking to System Dynamics and its application as a support tool aiming to structure human's thoughts and to provide a scientific basis for sustainable business decisions.
