Safety is crucial to Gas Processing and Gas Plant Operations, and has been one of the issues atthe forefront of recent innovations in modeling technologies to help users optimize their systemsand processes for safer performance. A barrier to achieving optimal designs, from a safety pointof view, has been the separate working and modeling environments of different engineeringspecialists involved in the process design and the safety design of these systems. Recentinnovations have brought the most important of these environments together to achieve theability to optimize across process, safety and cost objectives. This paper explains how theinnovative integration between process simulation, dynamic analysis and rigorous PressureSafety Valve (PSV) modeling has evolved to make processes inherently safer. One can nowperform relief valve design analysis, sizing and documentation from within the processsimulation, making the workflow easier and faster than ever before. This paper describes thebenefits of the new Pressure Safety Valve Sizing features in Process Simulation to improvingsafety and optimizing Plant Operations.
