Inefficiently management of nutrient inputs has put a large limitation on the environment and human's health. Unsystematic use of nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizers has led to ground water pollution. So the farmers have to pay close attention to nutrient management and add in the concept of balanced plant nutrition into their farming techniques, including site-specific crop management (SSCM). The balanced nutrition level to plant is provided by inclusion apposite level of compost solution, which is ecological alternative for fertilizer. Information about the inconsistency of different primary nutrients within compost is essential for the decision-making process. Primary nutrient contents of soil are necessary to decide how much additional contents of these nutrients are to be added in the soil to boost crop fertility. This article focuses on reviewing existing methods and techniques used to determine nutrients status and have attempted to calibrate gas sensors to measure nutrients present in compost.
